Grabber X3 top tyre for mud terrain – LRO Magazine
The General Tire Grabber X3 saw off the BF Goodrich MT KM2 in a thorough 10-stage mud terrain challenge organised by LRO magazine. Using a Land Rover Discovery, the Grabber was put through its paces at Snugg’s Pit, Suffolk, a renowned off-road proofing ground with some of the UKs toughest and muddiest conditions.
The Grabber X3 took the tyre test honours after scoring higher in a range of challenges including climbing out of ruts, producing the least road noise, braking on wet roads and finding grip in gloopy mud.
BF Goodrich MT KM2 just edged the Grabber X3 in a sandy hill climb challenge, while the other remaining five tests were drawn, resulting in the Grabber X3 emerging on top by five points with an overall score of 79 points to 74 points.
General is number 1 for a Safari across all terrains
When you think of demanding terrain – there are few more challenging demands than those offered by South Africa. Where a trip on concrete can quite easily turn into a ride in the bush you need a tyre that is versatile enough to handle all terrains. So, when South African magazine SA 4X4 do a giant all-terrain tyre test, you really need to pay attention to the results.
After vigorous tests in a controlled environment the new General Grabber AT3 stole the top prize.
Described as “a well-balanced tyres with great off road performance and good traction on all surfaces, complemented by good stopping power”. This made it the tyre of choice.

Test 2: Braking distance – Gravel surface
Test 3: Traction in sand
Test 4: Gravel acceleration
