Stepney armed and ready
By Paul Evans
Jonathan, who represented Wales at Clay Pigeon shooting, will contest the full Protyre Motorsport UK Asphalt Rally Championship this year in his 1.9-litre engined Peugeot 205 GTi.
Now living in Perth (Scotland, not Australia!), the 33-year old driver started competing in road rallying back in 2005, so the 2020 calendar, which contains more closed road stage events than ever before, will certainly suit him.
Co-driven by his stepfather Aled Davies, last year Jonathan made his Asphalt Rally Championship debut on the Rallynuts National Tour of Epynt, but suffered mechanical issues that forced retirement whilst holding a considerable lead in the in B12 class. This was then followed with the Manx National Rally, where he won the B12 class both times on the double-header event. On that form, he’ll certainly be a serious challenger for the B12 class title this year.
Support for Jonathan’s rallying comes from Alun Griffiths (Contractors) Ltd, Burroughs & Burroughs Stewart Associates, Sian Formwork Ltd, CCS Scaffolding and Motorhome Services Scotland.
