Occasionally our centres are graced with the presence of some industry leading celebrities.

To our delight Andrew Cotton, professional big wave surfer, top level athlete, adventurer and guest speaker popped into our Micheldever Tyres & Auto – Team Protyre centre last week.

One of the world’s most respected big wave surfers, he travels the globe surfing some of the biggest and heaviest waves on the planet such as Peahi in Hawaii, Mavericks in California and The Right in West Australia.

Having grown up in Braunton, South West England he trained as a plumber to begin a career until he made the decision in 2013 to become a professional surfer. Considered an important influencer, Andrew loves engaging in projects to tell a story. He launched a series of Surf Fitness Retreats around the world to share his knowledge and techniques as well as Surf Fit Life his latest venture.

To the horror of his fans world wide Andrew broke his back in an event during November 2017 however Andrew has said that ‘[he] is noticeably closer to being back to normal’.

Andrew’s media presence is significant and he is constantly in the mainstream or surfing news. In the UK alone he’s featured on BBC The One Show, been interviewed by Jeremy Paxman on Newsnight, been in 3 Blue Peter episodes, BBC Secret Britain and much, much more. He has also featured in all of the big mainstream newspapers as well as a huge number of online press articles (CNN, Sky News, BBC news).
