About GT Radial
Giti was established back in 1951 and originally manufactured bicycle tyres and inner-tubes in Indonesia before producing bias tyres for passenger and commercial vehicles. In 1993, Giti established a joint venture in China, with Anhui Tire Factory in order to produce bias tires.
After establishing proprietary sales and distribution centres in 1998, Giti completed manufacturing facilities in Fujian, two years later to produce new passenger car tyres. Since then, Giti has become one of the world’s largest and most renowned tyre manufactures expanding internationally by opening a number of offices and distribution centres across the globe.
Giti Tire's historical milestones
1993: Established joint venture with Anhui Tire Factory to produce bias tires.
1996: Began production of PCR tyres at the Giti Anhui facility.
1998: Established proprietary sales and distribution centres in various locations across China.
2000: Construction of new PCR tyre production plant in Fujian and began production.
2001: Acquired TBR tyre production plant and started TBR tyre production.
2003: Acquired an approximately 44.4% stake in Hualin Tire
2005**:** Acquired a 22.5% stake in Indonesia-based tyre manufacturer, P.T. Gajah Tunggal and completed an asset swap with Giti Tire Corporation. In this year Giti also established sales and marketing subsidiaries in the USA and Europe in order to expand export sales and was ranked the 13th largest tyre manufacturer in the world (sales revenue) according to Tire Business.
2006: Signed three-year sales with one of the largest tyre retailers in the US, BFS Retail & Commercial Operations LLC and was awarded the ‘2005 Supplier of the Year’, by General Motors.
2007: Established Giti Radial Tire Anhui and sales and marketing subsidiary in Canada to increase manufacturing facilities and expand export sales, respectively. Giti was also awarded ‘2006 Supplier of the Year’ by General Motors for the second year in a row.
2008: Achieved General Motors ‘2007 Supplier of the Year’ for the third time, consecutively.
2009: Established sales and marketing subsidiaries in both the UK and Germany in order to expand export sales and began developing Giti Retail Alliance in China.
2010: Awarded General Motors, ‘2009 Supplier of the Year’.
2011: 60th Anniversary of PT Gajah Tunggal and ranked 9th globally (sales revenue) according to European tyre media www.pneusNews.it
2012: Honoured as official tyre supplier for Volvo Trucks and Volkswagen and awarded both the ‘2012 General Motors Supplier Quality Excellence Award’ and the ‘2012 Customer Satisfaction Award – Commercial Vehicle Tyre Brand’.
2013: Founded a new Research and Development centre in Akron, USA to add to the facilities in China, Indonesia, and the UK. Giti_Compete_ GTR1 announced as the official tyre for the Formula Masters China Series (FMCS). Established Giti Tire Brazil, Giti Tire Europe Representative Office in France and was awarded the ‘2013 General Motors Supplier Quality Excellence Award’ for the second consecutive year.
2014: Founded full-scale tyre production facility in South Carolina, USA.
2015: Won the Sepang 12 Hours Endurance Race fending off top global competitors in the process.
2016: Giti_Compete_ Giti Tire and Team Dörr Sign Motorsports Partnership and Giti establish Indonesia's largest and most sophisticated tyre proving ground to rigorously test manufactured tyres. Giti also named Walmart USA Hardlines Supplier of the Year and Automotive Supplier of the Year.
2017: Established Middle East Regional office in Dubai, U.A.E. and completed new full production centre in South Carolina, USA.
