The Greatest Cash for Kids Ball on Earth
By Gareth Vrac
On Thursday September 13th Oldwall Gower in Wales was host to the glitz and glamour of the Swansea Sound Cash for Kids charity ball. The annual event held each year at the venue boasted quality food and entertainment all in aid of fundraising.
The theme for this year was the popular musical movie The Greatest Showman and though there were no cast from the actual film the guests were spoilt by the vocal talents of Sheri Hamilton-Shaw (XFactor) and The Performance Factory (award winning stage school based across Wales) plus chart topping Max George (The Wanted) with some of his greatest hits to kick off the evenings dancing and drinks.
Throughout the evening there were also a selection of circus acts from gymnastics to tarot reading and fire throwing in the grounds just outside the venue. There was even a Shetland pony from Woodfield Animal Sanctuary who were there raising awareness to keep their sanctuary open. They rescue abused horses and ponies that are taken from slaughter houses or have been abandoned.
Harris Brothers – Team Protyre have supported the charity for 15 years and as usual donated a prize for the fund-raising auction. This year the offering was a super car racing experience courtesy of Pirelli.
Moving stories were shared to support why everyone was there on the night and the goal was to help raise £12k for The Kids Cancer Charity Swansea patient 7-year-old Nell Connick get her dream trip to Disneyland Florida to meet Disney princesses. Defying the odds Nell has fought to reach her 7th birthday having been diagnosed with an inoperable tumour on her spine at age 5 and even regained her ability to walk and talk.
