Dominant Chadwick wraps up 2016 Ginetta GT5 Challenge with two wins
By Adam White
The first race of the day saw Chadwick, who had claimed the Ginetta GT5 Challenge series at the second race of the Spa-Francorchamps weekend in July, dominate with a lights-to-flag victory, ahead of Ryan Hadfield and Jonathan Palmer.
But during an action-packed race two, the 20-year-old from Gloucestershire had a fight on his hands right from the start. As the lights went out, Ryan Hadfield took the challenge to Chadwick and a drag race resulted in Hadfield leading with Chadwick pushed down to sixth.
Meanwhile, a fast starting Matt Chapman then stormed his way from third to first and by the end of the opening lap he was leading both the Hadfield brothers. But Chapman was unable to hold the lead and after eight laps of intense and impressive driving, Hadfield took the win, with Jac Constable in second place and Chapman in third. Chadwick finished in fifth.
The final race, saw Chadwick re-assert his dominance and show why he’s a deserving champion by winning in impressive style, his 14th of the season.
Protyre has been championship sponsor for a number of years. We also supply all control tyres (where drivers can’t bring their own tyres) for each race. These control tyres are barcoded and used to identify each driver. We take two fully functional fitting trailers with awnings and fitting equipment plus two stock trailers full of tyres. At big events we change and fit around 1,000 tyres!
The Protyre Motorsport Ginetta GT5 Challenge is a popular entry-level championship for many aspiring GT racers. That’s because it offers a unique, low-cost opportunity for drivers to race in a single-make racing championship, whilst still being a part of a prestigious support package.
While 2016 has been incredible and hugely entertaining, we can’t wait for 2017!!
