Carpers Against Cancer
By Gareth Vrac
Protyre Banbury have recently supported local organisation ‘Carpers Against Cancer’ set up and managed by Protyre Banbury Tyre Fitter Ricky Holzel and his brother in law James Beeny.
The charity holds annual events including raffles, auctions, BBQ’s, stalls, organised days out for families and of course fishing!
At the organisations November event Protyre donated a pair of tyres to the value of £200. To win, participants had to guess the total amount of boilies in a jar.
Lucky winner Ryan Gull guessed 405 and won with the total being 406! That’s one luck guess!
Pictured above he was presented with his voucher with the Protyre team at the centre.
Organiser James Beeny told us:
‘We raised over £1000 for Prostate Cancer UK. The fun day went very well with lots of support from anglers and non-anglers. The raffle was a huge success with lots of generously donated prizes. The fishing was very slow on the two lakes that we had, but a few carp did grace the bank. Dan Henderson won on the mitre pool taking home the trophy and few prizes and Ed brand won on Rushglen.
Massive thanks to Shaun and treez for letting us use Bishops Bowl Fishery and thank you for all your help. Thank you to everybody that donated prizes and helped us out, also thank you to everyone that took part in the match and that came for the fun day. The next one will be bigger and better_’_
All proceeds from the event went to Prostate Cancer UK.
