Sheffield Steel Dogs Unsung Heroes
By Gareth Vrac
Last month the Sheffield Steel Dogs put down their helmets and donned their cologne for the end of season Awards Night.
The event held at the Owlerton Stadium was filled with players, staff, fans and sponsors gathered to celebrate an eventful season for the team.
Before the awards began, thanks were given to the people who work for the club in different roles on and off the ice.
Hawleys Tyres – Team Protyre sponsored this years ‘Unsung Hero award’. The winner was team Captain Lewis Bell (pictured with assistant centre manager Mark Thulborne)
“It’s always an honour to win any award and especially on a championship winning team, it’s a big extra to have contributed towards that. I feel any award this year is a reflection of a massive team effort and my main aim this year was to try and set an example for the team to follow so hopefully I’ve done that and will continue to do so for as long as I’m welcome”.
Congratulations Lewis! Other winners from the night were:
Best Brit - James Spurr
Most Improved Player -Jamie Scott.
Coach’s player award - Cameron Brownley
Player of the Year - Ben Morgan.
Player’s Player award - Dmitri Zimozdra.
MVP award - Milan Kolena.
Steeldogs Club Award - Greg Wood
