In Need of an Adventure?

The adventure duo Ed Holford-Walker and John Horsfall popped into Micheldever Tyres - Team Protyre last month to get one last vital piece of kit for their next adventure…new tyres!

You can read about their visit here

The pair set off in last April on their 3-month epic journey that is taking them across multiple terrains from glaciers to mountain passes and deserts from the UK to Afghanistan.

Beginning in the beautifully mountainous Verbier, Swizerland the pair took it easy and explored the mountain tops by ski lift in the early hours.

“As we got to the top the pastel rainbow colours lit up the mountain sky. It was quite the view and start to our trip”

After some unfortunate injuries in the week leading up to the trip and a dramatic turn in the weather the pair reluctantly hung back after a soldiered effort to do some skiing in the Chamonix-Mont-Blanc the junction of France, Switzerland and Italy.

Crossing through Italy into Slovinia saw a new terrain as they took a offroad drive through the national park filled with turquoise blue rivers and razor sharp snow-capped mountains.

“The place has the feel of what Yosemite national park is like. 1000m cliff edge mountains hanging over you. We are setting up for the night before skiing tomorrow morning”

After a busy couple of days exploring the national park and skiing vast passes, the duo ended their visit in the city of Ljubljana. Ljubljana is Slovenia's capital city known for its university and green spaces lined with outdoor cafes that divide the city's old town from its commercial expansion. Filled with museums from history to modern art the city is home to 20th-century Slovene paintings and sculptures.

Having now done a week away from home John and Ed arrived in Bulgaria and Bansko a pleasant change from the mosquito filled nightmare a day previous.

“At times [it was] too steep and icy for the skis. We reached the top after a few hours and enjoyed the scenery before skiing down to the car and on towards Turkey and Istanbul. European phase of the trip over now over to Asia!”
