Lee Ormston, Garage Manager at our Protyre Billingham branch is taking on the Great North Run to raise funds for the Butterwick Hospice Care.

Butterwick Hospice Care has 3 hospices with over 2000 patients nationwide; Butterwick Hospice in Stockton, Butterwick House, hospice for babies, children and young adults and Butterwick Hospice at Bishop Auckland.
 
The Charity provides pain and symptom control, end of life, respite, day and home care, complementary therapies, bereavement care and family support free of charge to children and adults. Butterwick Hospice Care serves the communities of Teesside, County Durham, North Yorkshire and Wearside.
 
Their mission is:
 
‘To improve the quality of life for those who have a progressive life limiting illness and those close to them and to offer positive support for every challenge they may encounter during their illness and to see death as part of life's journey.’

The Great North Run

The Great North Run, a 13.1 mile half-marathon, starts in Newcastle upon Tyne and competitors make their way through the city centre towards the River Tyne. When travelling over the iconic Tyne Bridge, lucky runners may even get a glimpse of the Red Arrows as they pass overhead before heading through Gateshead to South Shields. From there and with just over a mile to go competitors will start to hear the crowds get louder as they make their way down the final straight towards the finish line.
