Successful double finish thanks to night shift
By Julia Freeman
After a night shift from Saturday to Sunday, Falken was rewarded with a double finish at the third race of the Nürburgring Endurance Series (NLS) last weekend. 14th place for Matteo Cairoli and Peter Dumbreck in the #4 Porsche 911 GT3 R, directly followed by Thomas Preining and Christian Engelhart in the #3 at the double header on the Nürburgring-Nordschleife.
That the Porsche with the #3 was able to start the race is an impressive team performance of the Falken mechanics. On Saturday – the first of two NLS races held in one weekend – a fire had to be extinguished in the rear area of the 911, which caused considerable damage. The mechanics replaced all damaged parts including the engine overnight in a strong team effort and were rewarded for their tremendous work.
Thomas Preining, Young Professional of Porsche, and Christian Engelhart put their perfect running Porsche on the 25th starting position, although the duo did not get a free qualification lap. Similarly, the #4 with Falken newcomer Matteo Cairoli and Peter Dumbreck, who qualified for the 23rd starting position.
Like the day before, the Falken Porsche in striking design convinced once again with fast lap times and a flawless performance. The team was able to collect some more important data to optimise the setup of the cars.
After four hours, Cairoli / Dumbreck crossed the finish line in 14th position and as third fastest Porsche, followed by Preining / Engelhart.
The next race of the NLS season takes place on August 1st.
