Tavistock Tyres go Carnival Themed!

Jul

Every year as per annual tradition Tavistock Tyres – Team Protyre attended the Tavistock carnival organised by Tavistock Lions’ Club.

The carnival consisting of schools, businesses, organisations and community members were dressed up to represent different cultures for this year’s procession theme ‘Countries of the World’.

The event consisting of make shift floats collected £2,185.98 (£100 up on last year). The profits will be distributed to local charity groups, clubs and schools that participated in the procession.

Winning the perpetual shield and a trophy for best in procession, plus best school of the year, was St Peter’s Junior School and St Rumon’s Infant School, representing Norway by dressing as Vikings.

Sadly, Tavistock Tyres missed out on winning best float to Vintage Tractors, but the team had a fantastic time raising money for a good cause.

Steve Grummitt, from Tavistock Lions Club, said: ‘We all had a fantastic week, it was one of the best processions in many years. Everyone who took part really latched on to the theme — from Scottish pipe bands to Nepal, we saw entries “from all over the world”, which was great. The Lions would like to thank everyone who took part and helped us raise so much money.’

Next year’s carnival day will be Saturday, July 20th 2019!
