Residents out to show they live in a Happy Street
By Gareth Vrac
Windemere Rd; Blackpool, Shackleton Rd; Freckleton, Seacrest Avenue; Fleetwood, The Boulevard and Larch Grove; Preston, have been shortlisted as finalists in Happy Street, a fundraising initiative in support of Cash for Kids. As part of their entry, the residents will now embark on a variety of fundraising activities with the aim of raising as much money as possible, competing against each other.
The winning street, which raises the most money, will be rewarded with Happy Street Party on Sunday 21st August.
The residents of Larch Grove and The Boulevard will be supported by Protyre Preston, a fast fit and mechanical centres located on Blackpool Road, which is the official sponsor of the Happy Street campaign.
Gary, manager of Protyre Preston, said: “We’re always looking to support local initiatives and when we heard about this opportunity we knew it was something we wanted to get involved with. It’s a great campaign, which will be a lot of fun, and most importantly, will raise funds to support underprivileged children across Lancashire.
“Having met the residents from Preston, I can say for sure that they’re a happy bunch and I really hope one of them win!”
Cash for Kids is a network of local charities, set up by Bauer Radio. Operating across 21 areas in the UK, the each charity raises money from within its local communities to support disabled and disadvantaged children aged from 0 to 18 years. This includes grants from buying specialist equipment for children to enhance their quality of life, or donations to local charities and organisations to help them undertake projects and new initiatives.
