It's Ladies Night in Maldon...oh, what a night!
By Gareth Vrac
It’s the centenary year of the suffragette movement and here and Protyre we thought we’d start the year with a Ladies Tea & Tips afternoon tea at Supertyres Maldon - team Protyre.
Within a matter of days there were 12 ladies signed up. With tea and cake at the ready on a specially prepared array of pink plates the evening opened with an introductory talk about FOXY lady drivers club by its founder Steph Savill. Steph explained what the Club does and the many tyre safety lessons learned during its business journey. She also explained the criteria required to be a FOXY Lady Approved garage that the Club promotes to women drivers, and how Team Protyre centres exceed these minimum quality standards whereas other well-known tyre centre brands don't.
The audience then split into three separate areas in the adjoining workshop. One tyre technician explained about tyre labelling and the worrying case of tyre tread wear. The second showed them how to change wheel on a car including a check of the guest’s cars to ensure they had their spare/puncture repair kits intact. Finally, the third covered how to top up fluid levels such as oil, water and coolant levels.
People often forget how important checking fluid levels regularly really is. If you don't lubricate your engine parts you could end up needing expensive work to replace key components. Without coolant, your engine could seize up in winter. And if you forget to top up your windscreen washers, you could end up driving on dirty, wet motorways at night and find you can't clear your windscreen to see the road ahead.
Each attendee left the evening not only well fed but with a goodie bag full of leaflets covering the topics of the evening, a tread depth card so they can keep checking they’re tyres are safe and a FOXY Lady Drivers Club membership.
Thank you to those who attended and watch this space or follow us on Facebook for any more upcoming events.
