Protyre launch Asphalt eSports Championship!

27
Apr

The real Protyre Motorsports UK Asphalt Rally Championship might be temporarily in stay-at-home COVID-19 lockdown, but that’s not going to stop it – as we are launching an open and FREE to enter eSports ‘Protyre Asphalt’ Championship on DiRT Rally 2.0.

The five round ‘Protyre Asphalt’ Championship starts on Monday 27 April, and each round will be available to play for one week before automatically switching to the next round the following Monday.

The very best asphalt stages and cars from the DiRT Rally 2.0 game have been selected – which we think best represents Britain’s premier asphalt rally series. So there is the Col de Turini and Panzerplatte stages, for example, which you can test your skill on in cars like a Subaru Impreza WRC, Ford Focus WRC, Lancia 037, Porsche 911 or a Volkswagen Polo GTI R5. Sounds cool, doesn’t it?!

No stage is exactly the same, and each stage has been designed as a challenge for newcomers and more experienced gamers alike – not outrageously difficult, but with some tricky weather conditions and some night stages to master!

The championship will consist of:

Round 1 (starting Monday 27 April – for one week)
Spain (8 stages) – fast smooth closed roads
Cars: Group A – Mitsubishi Evo, Subaru Impreza/Legacy, Lancia Delta Integrale, Ford Escort Cosworth)

Round 2 (starting Monday 4 May – for one week)
Germany (6 stages) – military asphalt and concrete roads
Cars: Group B RWD – Lancia 037, Opel Manta 400, BMW M1, Porsche 911

Round 3 (starting Monday 11 May – for one week)
Monte Carlo (7 stages) – closed mountain roads with snow, ice and dry sections
Cars: WRC 2-litre – Subaru Impreza WRC, Peugeot 206 WRC, Škoda Fabia WRC, Ford Focus WRC, Citroën C4 WRC

Round 4 (starting Monday 18 May – for one week)
Spain (6 stages) – paella at the mid-day service halt
Cars: Historic RWD – Ford Escort Mk2, Fiat 131 Abarth, Opel Kadett GTE, Renault Alpine A110

Round 5 (starting Monday 25 May – for one week)
Germany (7 stages) – watch out for those hinkelsteins
Cars: R5 – Ford Fiesta, Peugeot 208, Mitsubishi Mirage, VW Polo, Citroën C3, Škoda Fabia

To enter, log on to the Codemaster Racenet section and add ‘Protyre Asphalt’ to your list of club favourites – and you’ve entered the series, absolutely FREE.

The ‘Protyre Asphalt’ Championship will start on Monday 27 April at 4pm BST.

There will be an updated running points total, so fans will be able to see where they are in the Championship standings.

‘Protyre Asphalt’ will be great fun – with the champion winning bragging rights for many months to come!

Stay safe, stay in doors and good luck everyone!
