Vehicle Maintenance Products

Owning a a car, van, or, any type of road vehicle, is a luxury that provides you with the freedom to travel and explore. However, without regular maintenance your vehicle can incur problems that can be costly to repair. Taking into consideration that the average vehicle owner already spends £2000 - £3000 on fuel, insurance, servicing, MOT tests and repairs, avoiding any addtional, unneccessary costs is in every drivers best interests. At Protyre, we understand the importance of vehicle maintenance, stocking a variety of products you can purchase at any of our garages within our UK network. Check out our products below:

Oxicat

OXICAT is a specially developed high-performance cleaner to sustainably and effectively remove, soot and carbon deposits in the entire exhaust tract, especially in the area of the catalyst, the lambda sensor, the turbocharger and the EGR valve.

How does Oxicat work?

With regular use, it provides protection against renewed contamination, increases fuel efficiency, optimizes the engine performance and ensures the proper functioning of the catalyst and the lambda sensor. Thus, OXICAT supports compliance with the emission limits.

What are the advantages of Oxicat?

  • Removes existing deposits

  • Provides protection against heavy dirt with regular use

  • Ensures the proper operation of the oxygen sensor/catalyst/the turbocharger and the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) valve

  • Prevents and eliminates problems that appear on the On Board Diagnostic (OBD)

Why should you use Oxicat?

Over time, a significant increase in fuel consumption and the emission of harmful exhaust gases like carbon monoxide and hydrocarbon occurs. This is caused by the continued pollution of the exhaust system components, such as; the catalyst, oxygen sensor, turbocharger and the EGR valve and as a result, engine performance deteriorates noticeably. These problems occur in vehicles that travel over short distances, or, vehicles with exhaust gas recirculation, direct injection and turbochargers and also in areas with poor fuel quality.

All modern engines have an Oxygen Sensor that needs to be kept clean. The O2 sensor is mounted in the exhaust manifold to monitor how much unburned oxygen is in the exhaust as the exhaust exits the engine. Monitoring oxygen levels in the exhaust is a way of gauging the fuel mixture. It tells the computer if the fuel mixture is burning rich (less oxygen) or lean (more oxygen).

A clean Oxygen Sensor means:

  • Better Fuel Efficiency

  • Reduced Exhaust Emissions

  • Smooth Running

When you have a bad oxygen sensor, your vehicle will run less efficiently. It can sometimes struggle to start, have a poor, idle and erratic jerking at steady throttle and will cause high fuel consumption.

Bluchem Diesl Particulate Filter (DPF) Cleaner

Bluchem produce several products to clean DPF systems under the PRO-TEC brand. The Diesel Particle Filter in your vehicle collects the soot from the exhaust system and over time, this soot builds up in the filter and must be removed.  Diesel powered vehicles produce a lot of soot which can lead to respiratory problems and cardiovascular diseases, so it is important that the soot from diesel engines is removed and in the correct way. Since 2009, it has been mandatory for all diesel vehicles to be fitted with a DPF in he exhaust to prevent the soot passing into the atmosphere.

How is the soot removed?

The removal process requires the exhaust temperature to rise to 600°C this can only happen on a long journey, 'hard' driving, or through automatic regeneration - but unfortunately this does not always work.

When you have a DPF treatment at Protyre, we reduce the ignition temperature of the soot to 350°C. This allows the soot to turn into CO2 gas at a regular exhaust gas temperature and leave the DPF perfectly clean and safe for you to drive on.

DPF Cleaning

Often problematical, DPF systems are fitted to all Diesel Vehicles and cannot be removed. For motorists who drive short journeys, regularly sit in heavy traffic, or generally have low mileage, these are most at risk to soot build up in their vehicle potentially exposed to big (£1k -£3k) bills. Motorists who continually ‘top up’ their fuel tank are also susceptible to problems.

The Bluchem products used by Protyre are DPF Super Clean. A pour in the tank product that reduces the burn temperature of the soot in the DPF, see below and attached. This product is cure AND maintain. To maintain the DPF the product should be used at regular intervals. A minimum of every 6 months is recommended.

When DPF’s are blocked and requires more concentrated cleaning DPF Cat Cleaner is required. This is a foam that is injected into the DPF itself and removes all contamination. See attached info and Manual.
