Protyre - Case Study - Chloe Spare

Chloe, 18, began the Protyre Apprenticeship Scheme in January 2019 at her local Protyre garage, Elmbridge Tyres - Team Protyre. After completing the initial Pro VQ written test, Chloe was entered into the Apprentice Scheme at Level 2, clearly displaying an advanced understanding of the technical requirements of the course.

During the next two years, she will gain practical expereience working at the garage, while also undertaking a variety of theory-based modules at Pro VQ. These modules contain both written and online assessments and are carried out in two-week block with the first week a written assessment and the second week an online assessment.

Chloe's overall aim is to qualify as an MOT tester and then see where that path takes her. To achieve this, she first needs to complete her Level 2 and 3 Pro VQ courses before undertaking the MOT Tester course.

Chloe's Statement

“I like working for Protyre, I like working with cars. When I was younger I used to help my Dad doing the brakes on the family car.
I like doing the Apprentice programme as not only do you learn new skills and meet new people but you get to earn why you learn so technically there’s a reward at the end of the month. I like working for Protyre, the people are great, we work well as a team and have a laugh while still getting the work done.
The training is also great, you get the practical side of it and also the theory side of it when go up to Pro VQ and when you return you can put the theory into practice.
After I finish this Level 2 apprenticeship, I’d like to do my Level 3 and then eventually my MOT Tester qualification. The guys here have said they would love to help me achieve it so I am really looking forward to doing it.”
