About Goodyear Tyres

A brief history

The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company was founded in 1898 by Frank Seiberling and headquarters are based in Akron, Ohio.
The company was named after American Charles Goodyear, who invented vulcanised rubber. Goodyear manufactures high quality tyres for cars, trucks, motorcycles, aeroplanes and agricultural machinery.

Goodyear is also known for being the most successful tyre supplier in Formula One history, with the most wins and constructors' championships than any other tyre supplier.

  • 1993: Introduction of 'Aquatred', first tyre specifically designed for wet conditions

  • 1997: Goodyear Tyres first to win Formula One races

  • 2012: Goodyear play major role in the development of the EU tyre labelling system
