Next stop for Ginetta GT5 Challenge – Oulton Park!
By Adam White
The Protyre Motorsport Ginetta GT5 Challenge season heads to Oulton Park this weekend for rounds six and seven of the 2016 season and what promises to be another outstanding couple of days of racing.
The season has so far been dominated by Ollie Chadwick from the Xentek Motorsport team. He’s already built up a commanding 45-point lead over second placed Matt Chapman, from the TCR team, but the championship is far from over.
Chadwick will be pushed hard by both Chapman and R&J Motorsport driver, Ryan Hadfield, on a track that is loved by competitors. They’ll be desperate to close the gap on the championship leader as we approach the midway point of the season.
Things are also hotting up further down the standings. With Got Boost’s Nick Zapolski not racing this weekend, Matt Flowers (Academy Motorsport), Matt Palmer (Privateer) and Jonathan Hadfield (R & J Motorsport) will all be looking to rack up the points and move up the championship table.
As if the name doesn’t already give it away, Protyre is a big supporter of this series. We’ve been championship sponsor for a number of years. We also supply all control tyres (where drivers can’t bring their own tyres) for each race. These control tyres are barcoded and used to identify each driver. We take two fully functional fitting trailers with awnings and fitting equipment plus two stock trailers full of tyres. At big events we change and fit around 1,000 tyres!
The Protyre Motorsport Ginetta GT5 Challenge is a popular entry-level championship for many aspiring GT racers. That’s because it offers a unique, low-cost opportunity for drivers to race in a single-make racing championship, whilst still being a part of a prestigious support package.
Nestled in the Cheshire countryside, Oulton Park combines stunning scenery and action-packed racing, making it one of the most picturesque and best-loved circuits for both spectators and competitors.
Oulton Park is near to Manchester, where we’ve opened a new centre (959 Ashton Old Road), which specialises in mechanical repairs, MOTs, and supplying and fitting tyres for cars, vans and 4x4s. The centre also has a John Beam laser wheel alignment system. For contact details click here.
