About Ducati

The unmistakable perfectly pitched purr of a Ducati is impossible to beat. With its impeccable design, this motorbike is adored and coveted right the way round the world. Ducati motorbikes have been imagined, designed and assembled with microscopic attention to detail. Even in today's mass-produced society, every single Ducati is hand-made.

In 1950 Ducati launched its first Cucciolo-inspired motorcycle: a 48cc bike. It weighed 44kg and had a top speed of 40mph and a 15mm carburettor.

Throughout the 1950s Ducati continued to nurture its designs, such as the Ducati desmodromic system, which went on to become one of Ducati's defining features. Ducati roared into the motorcycle history books in the 1960s with the fastest 250cc bike available. In the 1970s Ducati continued to push the boundaries of innovation and beauty by producing large-displacement V-twin motorbikes. In 1973 Ducati unveiled their hallmark V-twin desmodromic valve design.

Fabio Taglioni was the designing genius behind Ducati Motorbikes in the 1950s. He created a wide range of designs, from a single-cylinder bike that was a favourite in local street races to the large-capacity twin-cylinder darlings in the 1980s. In 1979 Ducati launched the Pantah, the first Ducati bike blessed with belt-driven camshaft motors, paving the way for contemporary Ducati V-twins. The Ducati SuperSport (SS) of the 90s was an update of the Pantah engine. In fact, all current Ducati engines are spin-offs from the Pantah, with its distinctive feature of using a toothed belt to trigger the valves. Below is a selection of the most popular Ducati motorcycle models, click on one of the buttons to view tyre options:
