How does air conditioning cool down your car?

An air conditioning system works by using a heat exchange cycle to remove hot air from the car and blow in cooler air. This thermodynamic cycle consists of a condenser that removes heat and moisture from the air and a compressor that compressing a gaseous refrigerant into liquid form to drive the heat exchange cycle.

How to detect faults with your air conditioning system?

The effectiveness of an air conditioning system in a car can degrade over time. The system begins to lose charge through the loss of a small percentage of the refrigerant fluid. The easiest way to detect that your air conditioning system is no longer functioning optimally is to monitor the temperature of the air blowing out of the vents when it is switched on. If it isn't blowing out crisp, cold air, you may need a free aircon check and a subsequent recharge from one of our expert mechanics at Protyre garages. In fact, one of the main causes of faults in an air conditioning system is leakage. That is why at Protyre we can carry out leak detection tests on the entire system and have you back on the road in no time.

Another potential issue with your air conditioning may lead to you noticing unpleasant odours coming from the system. These are caused by the build-up of bacteria and other contaminants in the filters, requiring that the filters be changed or cleaned. Not only are the odours unwelcome but the contaminated air can have adverse effects for those with respiratory conditions. The experts at Protyre can address any such problems easily, quickly and reliably.
