The best fuel-efficient tyres

By Julia Freeman

When it comes to tyres, one of the key factors that influences purchasing decisions is fuel efficiency. Essentially, this means that driving on these tyres will consume less fuel whilst keeping tread wear down. They will also help keep carbon dioxide emissions low. All tyres are now allocated a fuel-efficiency rating from A (most fuel-efficient) to G (least fuel-efficient).

Many tyres from numerous manufacturers proudly boast of their fuel efficiency, but what are some of the most popular and well-received fuel-efficient tyres?

Pirelli Scorpion Verde

Pirelli’s eco-offering aims to reduce environmental impact by boosting fuel efficiency but without negatively impacting on performance or functionality. Design, engineering, and technology combine to great effect to ensure that environmental impact is reduced, quality is maintained, and longevity is extended. This premium tyre is available in a wide range of sizes.

Continental Crosscontact LX20 EcoPlus

Aimed specifically at drivers of SUVs, crossovers, and light-duty trucks, these tyres help to reduce environmental impact without compromising performance. They still offer superb grip, premium braking capability, and super performance, even on wet or slippery surfaces.

Bridgestone Ecopia

Bridgestone’s Ecopia tyres offer reduced environmental impact without compromising on grip or performance. These tyres are available for coupes, saloons, and minivans and feature reduced rolling resistance and energy loss. Special compounds reduce tyre weight and a special reinforced structure optimises comfort and durability.

Dunlop Enasave

Originally designed for electric cars, these tyres have now hit the market as a high-performance, environmental-friendly option that also offers optimal traction, a quiet ride, and solid overall performance.

Michelin Energy Saver A/S

Designed for hybrids and passenger cars, Michelin Energy Saver A/S have been specially engineered to give the highest possible fuel economy, without compromising on traction or handling. Michelin’s Green X technology also reduces overall emissions and environmental impact. These tyres offer excellent performance, comfort, and high mileage.

Hankook Kinergy Eco

Hankook’s Kinergy Eco tyre line offers their usual high quality and performance in a model that simultaneously reduces rolling resistance and thus saves fuel and reduces emissions. These tyres are great for use in fair weather on sports and performance models such as saloons, coupes, and convertibles.
